A New Friend

I am learning to write about what happens before, during, and after an event.

Danny, a ten year old boy with jet black hair, baggy clothes and dusty cracked glasses, opened the blinds of his new bedroom and saw a glint! What was it he wondered. He moved the boxes and saw a little door. The doorknob was tinted gold and rusty with four locks. When he tried to open it the tiny door was locked. Then he heard his mum call him down stairs. “ Danny, time for dinner!”

Danny entered the dining room, and saw a lovely young lady accompanied by a tiny girl about the age of 6, his mum, Daisy and sister, Danelle. “I made your favourite dinner!” His mum informed him but Danny just quietly sat down thinking about the door. “Look, Danny dear,” his mum began, “I know you miss your friends but...” “I don’t miss them,” he cut her off. “They were mean to me anyway.” Suddenly he spotted something, from the root to the point, all four prongs were shaped like a key! “Hey mum, can I have this?” Danny asked, “Why of course you can” she replied his little sister Danelle just giggled but he ignored her rushing up to his room.

He ran to where he first saw the door excitement rushing up his spine, but when he got there the door was no in site! Reluctantly, he put himself to bed thinking where the door went. He had no idea that the door only awakens at 12:57 pm or 12:00 am.

The next morning Danny woke up, “It was all just a dream,” he declared to himself. But when he looked in his drawer the key was still there! As the clock ticked his little sister played outside. Finally it was 12:57! The door appeared and when Danny came in his bedroom and he ran over to it. He took out his fork from his pocket and put it in the quadruple lock. The key fell out and the locks clicked one by one. Slowly the door creaked open with age, Danny could tell that whatever was in there had been there for a very long time.

Cautiously he went in crawling like a baby too scared to walk. Inside he saw a big red robot jingling with every step it took walking to the door. When the robot went through the door Danny paused for about five seconds and then realised what had happened. Crawling out the door at top speed, he had to protect his sister. He looked out his bedroom window and sure enough his little sister was still playing and the robot was creeping up behind her.

Tumbling down the stairs he rushed out the backdoor, completely ignoring his mother, but what was this, his little sister was laughing and playing with a smiling, enormous, red robot! His little sister called him over to play. “His name is Red” Danelle informed him. It turned out that Red wasn’t so bad and Danelle and Danny made a new friend.

Growth Mindset

“ Do what is right, not what is easy.”

To me this mindset means, that even if doing the right thing is hard, you should do it no matter what, instead of doing what is easy.

I could use this mindset when someone needs help I go to help them even though I want to play.

In Room 6, we made a creation telling a little bit about our-self. We call them Me Boards! This is mine.
